BOOM CARS: Driving Everyone under the Influence
"Infrasound and Gas don’t mix"

With Boom Cars increasing at a rate of one million per year our streets and neighborhoods are being bombarded with excessive harmful, and potentially deadly, infrasound many times a day. Boom Cars are not only equipped with hi-powered stereos but now they blast our streets with extremely loud aftermarket exhaust systems. To get the maximum noise from the exhaust system these noise makers accelerate their engines thus speeding beyond posted limits in our neighborhoods. Being pumped up on a natural high from the excessive infrasound, speeding, and driving impaired, Boom Cars make for an unsafe situation for everyone. Infrasound at 135 decibels or higher is known to be extremely harmful, and potentially deadly, to everyone at excessive levels but it becomes even more so when multiple frequencies are being generated from the same Boom Car. Infrasound is pressure waves transmitted on a frequency determined by the source and when more than one source of infrasound waves collide then additional pressure waves are generated at unpredictable frequencies. Infrasound frequencies will remain in the 0Hz to 20Hz range regardless of how many are in a given area. The human brain controls the body by transmitting electrical impulses at 7Hz to 8Hz. Thus these Boom Cars equipped with heavy bass subwoofers and aftermarket exhaust systems acts as two different sources for infrasound. Since Boom Cars are generating noise, and infrasound, at an average of 142.1 decibels this creates an extremely volatile environment that could be deemed the ultimate deadly Russian Roulette. Infrasound, unlike it originating audible sound, maintains its strength at greater distances regardless of obstacles. Thus tens of millions of people are victimized by this potentially deadly anti-social misconduct everyday. These victims are also vulnerable to the ill affects of the infrasound even after the Boom Car passes. The occupants of the Boom Car and others in the area are being harmed in many ways. Infrasound vibrates the entire body thus damage is done at the cellular level. Hearing impairment is only one of the ill affects that victims experience. Stress is another major hazard that affects Boom Car victims. The potential for great physical and mental harm is paramount. This is only getting worse as time progresses. The audio industry is developing music that is intentionally laced predefined infrasound as to create particular sensations and moods. Moreover, CD music that has been specially developed to generate maximum bass, thus maximum infrasound, can be found in most Boom Cars today. Since bodily harm is being inflicted on innocent victims by these Boom Cars they are nothing but an acoustic weapon. Being intentionally assaulted with this potentially deadly weapon is nothing but Acoustic Terrorism. In no way would I discount the terrorist attack of 9/11 but society is experiencing domestic acoustic terrorism today that far exceeds that tragedy. Quality of Life of yester years will not be the same until the Boom Car is completely removed from society.
